You Say "Hacker", the Feds Say "Terrorist"
Richard Forno, 2001-11-21

By lumping hackers in with cyber-terrorists, the government is demonstrating a fundamental inability to understand either group.

I agree. Mafiaboy was a kid looking for bragging rights. And I believe that if the was not all the hype, then what would he have to brag about. This whole matter has gotten way out of control and the governments are only proving there ignorance towards these matters.
I recently experienced the loss of a friend last year to a drunk driver. The crown was incapable of proving Drinking and driving but they got him on a hit and run charge. The "offender" has shown no remorse, and is trying everything under the sun to avoid jail time. The most he faces is 5 years.
My point is this. This man faces at most 5years in jail for taking 2 lives yet the governments seem more concerned about offenders like Mafiaboy, who will be in jail for 5 years (correct me if I am wrong), for defacing a few websites.
The language used in the Anti-terrorism act, reminds me of the McCarthy era.
I agree that something must be done, however the gov. should at least show that the persons who are responsable for this field in the gov. have done more with a computer than write a word doc. Many of them wouldn't know a attack from a hostile if it hit them in the head.
