This is an excellent article. However, it still does not address the fact that there is no verification of age required to post an account on my space. While I applaud Scott Granneman for his analyses of the situation, his findings do not address the lack of support for parents who ARE trying desperately to parent their children in a world filled with abhorrations such as My Space. It takes a village to raise a child. I need the help of cyber police as much as I need the help of neighbors, friends, colleagues, teachers and even strangers who mean no ill will toward my child. What I don't need is a website who has told me three times that it cannot remove my child's page even though I have continually documented that she is an underaged user. That is not support. That is blatant disrepect and at a very base level - the undermining of my authority as a parent. Boo to My Space, for making my job as an active participant in my child's well being, social upbringing, and ethical growth, tougher than it needs to be.
