While I agree with checking emails, and myspace profiles and having access...I do, too. However, not all parents are even aware that their children are doing this. The single mom working two jobs so she can support her kids is simply not available to oversee every moment...life gets tough. I'm glad you & I can and do check our children's activity, but I in no way think that that is enough...or that all parents who cannot/do not are worse parents. I agree with a previous poster who said that it takes a village to raise and protect our children ...and MySpace has clearly positioned themselves to provide a support, and they have implied protective measures that they do not follow through on.

In my opinion, many parents who smugly declare how safe MySpace is, and how it has enriched their children's lives are either unaware of all their children's activities, or they've just been simply lucky so far. I hope their luck holds out, because many good parents have not been so lucky.
