I understand the need for a good rant, and I understand the need to raise issues like this in a large and public manner. But, yes, money IS all they care about. And, frankly, you can't make them change. Rich and shameless is a difficult-to-beat combination. Self indulgence is the order of the day.

Once you have accepted the fact that life is pointless and you might as well have fun, even if it is at other people's expense, then you are ruined. But you WILL get rich and have fun. And it WILL be at other people's expense.
