What an absurd comment. Plenty of users are locked into to using Microsoft products. Now saying that they just shouldn?t use Vista is fine but what about when the end of service life for XP comes around and there are no more patches for it? Companies will be forced to go to whatever is in use by Microsoft if their other vendors have not switched over. That means that if Microsoft get away with this then the next iteration will also have it, so even if XP?s end of life outlasts Vista users will be in the same boat because the new OS has the same stupid code in it.
On a side note I hate sending any information about my computer over the internet, not sure why, not doing anything silly with it, just don?t like the thought of my information being collected by corporate giants. So if I have the choice I will not register my legitimately purchased software. For a company to force me to do that should be illegal. It?s like saying give me your credit card number just so I can see who you are. Ok not quite but who knows what data Microsoft will end up collecting? I?ll bet it is not limited to hardware information.
