The real issue here is how, someone made a mistake, and you want to blame the victim here, instead of focusing on your in law. Why are people so casual to doing the wrong thing? Because we have a corrupt government? How about your in law wipe the laptop, wipe his iPod, and stop getting his jollies off over compromising someones privacy.
The funniest thing is that it would be so easy to just ignore the content and go about business as usual. I wonder what your inlaw would be doing if he found financial information on the laptop? Going through someones bank account to give you a story?
