Christmas Shopping: Vista Over XP?
Federico Biancuzzi, 2006-12-05

Microsoft has announced Vista's release dates. From a security standpoint what choice should consumers take during this Christmas shopping season? Most will be faced with Windows XP only or Windows XP with Microsoft's Express Upgrade option to Vista. Federico Biancuzzi interviewed a wide range of security researchers and anti-virus folks to get some consensus on the security of Vista over Windows XP for consumers, with some advice for corporate users as well.

Yawn. At this point I have all but given up on Microsoft. At home I run Mac OS X exculisvely and enjoy the benefits of secure unix OS with every possible utiity for email, word processing, photography video and audio I could imagine. At work, well is Sun Solaris.. and Windows 2003 servers. 12 Sun Servers, 3 Windows 2003 servers. I spend 75% of time managing the 3 Windows boxes and 25% of my time managing the Sun servers. (BTW, the Sun boxes have 40 TBytes of storage attached, the Windows servers 2 TBytes) I will take the UNIX side any day. Makes my life simpler.
