Substitute teacher Julie Amero faces up to 40 years in prison for exposing kids to porn using a classroom computer, but the facts strongly suggest that she was wrongfully convicted. Many issues remain, from the need for an independent computer forensics investigation and the presence of spyware and adware on the machine, to bad or incomplete legal work on both sides of this criminal case.

1. Windows 98 is totaly unsecure.
2. Where was the firewall?
3. Where was the administration when this happened, and an answer of "oh don't worry" is less than usless.
4. If this was to happen at home, does that mean that the parents could be tried and found guilty of the same thing? I think not.
5. Incident at one of our schools where the school webiste was hacked and porn was put up. Did the admin Crucify the person that looked at it (with her monitor situated where kids (middle school) could see it)??? no. The admin was alerted and immediately took the site down and repaired it.
6. The school wants $40 million for school renovation, how much for new equipment, firewall, content filtering and the manpower to support it and keep it updated? I bet not much at all. In my opinion, they will spend more on a teachers salary then the upkeep of the appropriate licenses to keep the FW and Content Filter up to date....
