NVIDIA's beta drivers (100.xx) appear to perform a lot better, the CS:S Video Stress Test was 15x faster when running at 2560x1600 with the new beta drivers. They appeared online at the end of January. I believe ATI have been pretty good with Vista driver support, although I haven't personally tried them on my Vista machines.

Creative appear to have pulled SPDIF support in the latest betas, although analogue support works fine, and they've delayed the official driver until March. Creative have always been slow with driver support.
