Regarding point 3: you need to "Change the way Security Center alerts me" first before you turn off/disable the Security Center service, if you don't want the little red shield icon to bug you when Security Center is disabled. I do not personally condone this action, I would much rather see users keep Security Center enabled, notifying them and displaying an icon (the top option), but if you really want to disable the Security Center, go for the bottom option.
