The Australian government is considering requiring that Internet service providers in that country install filters which would prevent citizens from accessing tens of thousands of sites that contain "objectionable" material.

Overall, an excellent analysis and generally agree that filtering should be a personal decision of the consumer or LAN network admin to activate an ISP service. The drawback and most likely position of the government is that child pornographers and terrorists will still freely communicate and exchange harmful material.
