As a point of contention, I've noticed that FB is retarded when it comes to protecting the privacy of my friend list. For example, I have to manually add every new friend to a list of "people not approved to see my friend list". However, at the same breath, if I send someone a message who is not my friend -- FB grants that person the right to see my friend list for 30 days. I'm not in the situations where people who are not my friends can see my friend list, while my friends cannot.

I assume that FB considers my friend list part of their intellectual property. My friend list is the most valuable piece of information that I can't control... everything else including name, pictures, wall, and detailed information is optional. The friend list is not opt-out.
