After careful reading of your article and the links you've provided. And after visitng Steve Gibson's site to read his thoughts on the mattter of UPnP security I think you've either misunderstood or you have your own axe to grind with Microsoft haters (or whatever you chose to call them) Nothing wrong with having strong opinions, just try to to use misinformation in your attempt to discredit those you disagree with. Steve Gibson has done much to promote awareness of security and promote individual responsibility in using the Net. Most of the people I come in contact with don't know and don't care about anything but surfing the web, downloading their MP3's and reading their email (with an occasional chatter). A good many of them neither know or care to know about the danger their PC's may cause to businesses. Microsoft on the other hand is fully aware of the risk that exists having experienced it firsthand (probably on a daily basis). Who then bears the greater responsibility? But I digress. Give Steve's article another read and see if you don't agree that you may have attributed motives to him that don't exist.
I do agree with the conclusion of your article however, if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem (brother Huey said that :) )
Peace,
Mike
