Coming from the "media" side, "Microsoft" is a name that can be placed on anything and make a sale. Whether it is code, newsprint, TV-land teases, certificates, etc., It is like blood, it leads. Everyone makes change on MS, pro or con.
Being a media puke, we definitely have found it hard to find a reliable and solid source of information to technology issues.
Part of the problem is too many folks are are only good for one or two subects within a larger issue; i.e. security.
The other part is sooooooo many heads popping up saying "I am the Prophet of the true light, follow me..." Who is for real? The reality is that most of the writers, reporters I know, have problesm listening to what someone says, let alone set the clock on a VCR. They only hear what they want to hear or what sounds sexy. Well in news, hacking is about as sexy as having a date with all of the Vicky Secret Gals.
So generally, the ones who have made money ($ popularity) tend to have the mic, becuase the have their knowledge backed by the greenback. Which will in turn sell the story out to the schmoe who just got that p4 from Claus.
So, you folks are the pros. Get out and add another head to the noise we drown in! My ears are not yet filled to drowning. And maybe, just maybe yours will become the reasonable one that is printed with ALL OF the FACTS. Do not fill us with speculation on something we do not know, just on what you know, then pass me to someone who does.
Everyone who has something floating in the skull, knows that are no unsinkable ships or unbreakable code or unexploitable systems.
