I have to agree with your wishes. I too would like better user training. If nothing more than to instill the importance of Individual Computer Security. I found a niche. I found that most of the school districts in my area have Adult Continuing Education Programs. They teach how to use various word processors, spreadsheets, databases, graphics programs and even how to surf the net. But none have a class on Individual Computer Security. I submitted a proposal to all the districts to teach a short course on safe surfing. The proposal was accepted and I begin in two weeks.
I?m scouring the security pages looking for material that can be transformed easily into a presentation something that not only puts the fear that they too can be targeted and probably already have been, but also tools they can use to better protect themselves.
The only problem is that afterwards my students will probably know more about security than their sysadmins at work.
