I am not usually one to jump in the middle of these things, but I must set the record straight on this one. First I must ask the writer who remains anon if he has actually met or worked with Mr. Schmidt? I have I am lucky to say. I worked with him prior to his Microsoft days, found him immensly intelligent, knowledgeble and willing to stand up for what he thought was right.

I am sure that his being considered not only for the post at Microsoft, but also back in DC was based on his integrity and willingness to serve.

Like Mike Ditka said once, it is easy to hide behind a mic. Come out in the street where everyone can take a look at you and throw stones... you really find out who your friends are.

Howard, I wish you luck in the big city, I certainly feel a lot better knowing that you are helping turn the wheel. Of course I know what to expect, and am not basing my opinions on trash talk.
