Agree! The problem is NOT Outlook. It is a given that
Microsoft will be bashed simply because they are that
nasty archdemon Big Business.

Outlook has the capability to transmit a great deal of
content in email, both active and passive. Why? Because
most users truly appreciate those features. Unfortunately
with all that power comes a degree of risk, and right now
we in the security segnents of the industry need to find
ways to close those holes.

Outlook has been a major target for two major reasons; it
has the power and some exploitable weaknesses in its armor,
and it is in wide enough use to make it worthwhile for an
attacker to focus on it.

Many of the attacks do rely on the carelessness or lack of
knowledge of the user, tricking him or her into a positive
action to activate malicious code. So do we force users to
limit themselves to blunt tools so they don't get hurt, or
try to improve the safeguards around powerful tools and
educate users in safety?
