Charney an Ominous Microsoft Pick
Tim Mullen, 2002-02-11

What are we to make of Microsoft tapping a former hacker prosecutor and IP lawyer for its top security spot? Nothing good.

I have to agree with Tim and say that I am very disappointed in Microsoft's selection of Charney. Given all the criticism MS has had to endure (mostly deserved I'm sorry to say) in the realm of Security, it is a missed opportunity to not have hired an InfoSec heavy hitter. Instead, they hired a lawyer... I can see the "How many MS lawyers does it take to secure a lightbulb?" jokes coming already!! Hey, maybe I'll even start a few myself... Peace!
