forget it... Given that the timebomb *could* be removed, crackers will assume that it *was*, and will still probe your system for the rpc.statd attack... And ya know what? They're still going to get into systems because as fast as this shit comes out, someone will update lint to automatically remove it from all code that they compile...

It's a nice pipedream, but please let ME manage MY systems how I want to. You have the time to upgrade every time some attack comes out - fine. Update everything BEHIND your firewall. Hell, come to my house and business and update everything of mine too. As for me, I'm only going to really worry about the firewall and a couple of other critical boxen... the rest of it I'm not gonna worry about, and don't want to be forced into doing anything...

By the by - read /. and see what the ratio of "shit idea:good idea" is...
