A number of these posts have talked about how a sys admin is no good if they can not troubleshoot problems caused by MS patches. Yes, patches can be uninstalled and then single patches be installed instead of cumulative to root out the "problem patch." But, patches from MS have broken so many things and not every company has the cash to pay for a MS support contract that may be used 2-4 times per year. An OS should not need a support contract. Individual software packages, yes. But not an OS.
MS has sent out too many patches without testing their effects. No, they can not test for every piece of software out there but they are not even doing through testing to see how a given patch can cripple their own OS.
Who deserves a kick in the pant now? Microsoft.
