It appears Linux is becoming more mature. It's management less obscure. As your risks become centralized they would become less difficult to control to more people. When only a relatively small number of people really know how to secure Linux well, that leaves the others either unsecured or using other OS which they can handle.
With all the Open Source Community watching over, I think it will become a good system.
As for agreement on changes - well if they can't do it they will fail. But Linux will still be there. Unity does not necessarily mean loss of Individuality...
