Hardly. I challenge you to find a recent instance of this. Most everyone in the serious security community has, over the past two years or so, come to a consensus similar to the one Mr. Lasser elucidates: when you find a big bug, be careful and courteous. Even when dealing with Microsoft, who in the past was notorious for blowing off dire warnings of havoc and destruction.

It is at best true that when hackers have released their Microsoft exploits open source proponents covered their mouths to stifle their laughter and said "You know, you really ought not have done that." In this case they're actually crying foul because it was their own team that had the strike called against them. That's a natural and excusable reaction; one that's hardly unique to open source weenies.
