It only matters that:
1. He can raise money for his organization
2. Looks good to old people and makes old people (people in charge) feel good because they think one of their's actually understands security... What's a packet again??
3. Has built enough momentum in his career where almost nothing can stop his train.
Finally, I'm sure he can totally explain how he had no accountability for the 2000 Microsoft compromise which allowed crackers to get MS source code.
