Citing a provision of the Patriot Act, the FBI is sending letters to journalists telling them to secretly prepare to turn over their notes, e-mails and sources to the bureau. Should we throw out the First Amendment to nail a hacker?

Very well articulated! I'm glad there is still someone left in America that believes in individual freedoms. Thank you for raising awareness that subpoenas do not require automatic compliance. We need to find a balance between security and privacy to avoid motivating further protect hacks....
