The Subpoenas are Coming!

Citing a provision of the Patriot Act, the FBI is sending letters to journalists telling them to secretly prepare to turn over their notes, e-mails and sources to the bureau. Should we throw out the First Amendment to nail a hacker?

Ever notice that the most the FBI has done is to write a courtesy letter saying "expect a subpoena"? The rest is author hysteria and speculation.

IOW, unless the letter is in and of itself a subpoena or some sort of actual court order, the journo who recieves it is UNDER NO LEGAL OBLIGATION TO CO...
