A great deal of spyware has NOTHING to do with file-trading programs or anything else the user installed. Google for "drive-by download" -- the use of security holes (some of them still unpatched) in IE, to force a download upon an unsuspecting user.

I've seen "office humor" Web pages -- the sort...
