It's a sad day when an ancient fork bomb attack can still take down most of the latest Linux distributions.

How about computing the limits based on processor speed, memory, hard disk partition space, etcetera? That information is available to both the installer and the OS, so they should simply apply limits like that.

e.g: User allowed RAM = (RAM + Swap) / 5...
