With camera and network surveillance now commonplace, and database abuse continuing to appear, how do we balance the positive side of security along with its potential for abuse?

On a whole I agree that people should have privacy, but it all depends on where and prior knowledge.

The main sticking point with me is prior knowledge. If someone is going to film me, record me, monitor my actions, etc, if I am provided with prior knowledge of this, then I am *far* less bothered...
