You're exactly right. IM Clients pose a huge security threat, not to mention productivity threat. We switched over to the Brosix.com Instant Messenger as a way to get the needed security.
We've seen a dramatic improvement in reduction of Trojan horses from "friends" who send files to our employees. Not to mention that our employees no longer have access to an IM client that is public, so employees can't send sensitive files to the wrong person.
We've also seen dramatic improvements in productivity. Our employees still have access to the benefits of fast communication with fellow employees, but the friends and family chatter is gone.
