Nessus for sure is the no one tool for security assessment but sometimes I prefer to have a more quick but superficial look on the firewall and therefore use online tools like Planet Security Fireall Check (www.planet-security.net/firewallcheck) or ShieldsUp (http://www.grc.com) hosted by Gibson Research Corp.
