I enjoyed both your TCP/IP skills articles and, this one was the same quality I have come to expect. I agreed with you then, and I agree with you know. Programming is often overlooked by those focusing on networking, yet people often don't realise the training you get from programming (not only in skill, but thought) will help with future security adventures, as well as network security understanding.

A solid understanding of C and assembly should be a benchmark for any security professional, yet its all about the big picture.

Thanks for writing this, security focus has been slipping lately and needed a boost.
