ironically this "ugly syntax" is not dissimilar to that of the C / C++ that was being so evangelised earlier. The concept the heavy weight application are not written in Java or other managed code frameworks such as .NET is nonsense too. C/C++ is completely unsuitable. Use of managed code will help to remove many common security flaws, and should be encouraged not ridiculed by "talented programmers".
