I think it's important to keep in perspective that Nazi, Germany did not just happen in one night. It was one slight and then another, until you found yourself in a situation you never fully intended or imagined could happen.
I'm starting to wonder what the goverments priorities are, watching terrorists or its own people. You do not rob peter to pay paul. Just like you do not spy on Americans without a warrant.
