Sophos uses names virus and worm
2006-02-17
Juha-Matti Laurio
It seems that Sophos uses several names about this malware, from their Press Release:
"First ever virus for Mac OS X discovered
OSX/Leap-A worm spreads via iChat instant messaging software"
At their description page it has been categorized as worm;
"Type: Worm"
The description page of McAfee (nai.com) is 'extraordinary' as well;
"Type: Virus
SubType: Internet Worm"
http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_138578.htm
Categorizing this threat to virus because of non-technicial readers is not right.
