Without any intention of minimizing what the girl may have gone through on her "date," does the root of this have anything to do with MySpace? What about personals ads in the newspaper or local social publication?

When I first started dating, the girl's parents always had to meet me before I was allowed to take her anywhere. When did responsibility of parents being involved in their childrens lives enough to know who they're dating shift to a third party?
