Where does this say hoax? I don't think many people are looking at the original video properly. I was always under the impression the Mac was just something used, but the problem was in a third-party driver that worked on Macs. Ever since this broke up until today, I wonder if people saw a different video than I did or are just having problems with objective comprehension. I don't recall ever once hearing, other than news outlets (interpretation) and blogs (interpretation) and word-of-mouth (interpretation), that Apple's code or Apple's created drivers or Apple's built-in drivers/wireless were hacked. The researchers have not said this. Nor have they denied it...

What's the problem here?

If nothing else, continued silence by the researchers suggest some Apple influence on...something. Perhaps there is a method against off-the-shelf Macbooks, but they are not at liberty to admit that yet? Only they and Apple know for sure...
