It took ages to merely copy functionality embedded in Firefox since its inception. Not much for such a giant...
IE doesn't deserve the HUGE browser share it has. It's not only a question of technical inadequacy, but - worse - of monopolistic supremacy, predatorial behavior and utterly unfair competition. It's bad that this behavior was not adequately judicially punished.
Bottom line is, the world at large is stuck with this load of BADware. Detractors of this line of thought will say that you have a choice of abandoning M$ in favor of other stuff, buf most often - for a number of reasons you don't have control over - the sad thing is that YOU CAN'T.
