Look, I know the focus of your point is not to tell people anything is secure since it doesn't serve your alarmist purpose but saying something is possible means NOTHING. It is in theory possible to rob Fort Knox using a computer simuation but in the real world? Every possibility so far requires the person to physically enter the person's house to break into the Mac - not exactly much of a virus. Of course, Pc users should also get alien abduction insurance while Mac users have nothing to worry about ... BTW, we don't even get popups - I know Pc users find it hard to believe because it seems like marketing lies but it's all true. Macs are actually used forcomputing. Other than backing up, my maintence time to keep my mcahine running is virtually nil.
