Aside from being ridden - as usual with Micro$oft products - with nasty bugs, Word is largely unneded in many situations.
Do we really need it in the first place?
Do we need a behemoth word processor, overly stuffed-with-features-that-we-won't-use, using a proprietary data format, and producing ridicolously large files even when they contain a small amount of plain text?
As it was advocated by Stallman many years ago, people shoud drop Word in favor of free (and simpler!) alternatives.
