Anyone who works in security knows that attacks happen. Anyone who works on a military network knows they happen a lot. Anyone who does incident response knows they come from China, Iran, Korea (North) and other not so friendly places frequently.

The supposition comes into play regarding sponsorship and motive, but the presence of these attacks isn't a new revelation. And the supposition isn't that big of a stretch. China is developing a blue water Navy with a stated goal of being able to sing a US Aircraft Carrier. They have long range missile capability, and recently tested an anti-satelite missile (what ever could that be for?). China also funnels a lot more money into military spending then they let on, and many of the products we buy are made by and for the benefit of the PLA. They also hold a huge ammount of our foreign debt, so they have us by the short hairs on that front, and are trying to do more to be a threat.

But, if you feel better pretending the world is one big happy place, go ahead.
