I totally agree, where was the due diligence of the school to prevent access to pornographic sites? Granted URL filters aren't totally fool proof, at the very least they should have been in place. The school should be the one in the hotseat, not the teacher.
To the question as to why she didn't turn off the monitor. She was told by another teacher not to turn off the computer. If she has little to no computer experience, it could stand to reason that she MIGHT think that turning off the monitor would turn off the computer. I know this concept throws our users for a loop...
