Money. When Sony found out their foolishness was going to cost them, only then did they recant and start their backpeddling. I just hope those individuals, District Attorneys, States and Countries cost Sony so much in the courts that they never recoup it on their "savings" from this DRM fiasco.

"Yup, we saved 100 dollars, pounds, yen or whatever with our DRM foolishness but it cost us millions in lawyers, lawsuits, court settlements, follow-on hacking using our DRM tool."
