It would boil down to prospective investment into their future pool of consumers.

The Apple is still an underdog in terms and is being viewed as the up-and-coming next great thing - the iPod turned the tides in their favor. Emergence with Intel base has only sweetened the pool waters for those so ept in PC.

However, security, the buzzword of the 00's will absolutely be a decider in how and when the masses move towards Apple's upcoming endeavours. While the PC market has taken a hit this last year, sales of Apple's proprietary blend of style and stability have boosted their bottom-line.

It will be in their best interest to collectively, critically and meticuously review/respond on severe threats to the operating system.
