Washington state law defines identity theft as a person knowingly obtaining, possessing, using or transferring a means of identification OR FINANCIAL information of another person, living or dead, with the intent to commit, or to aid or abet, any crime.

Financial information includes credit card numbers, bank accounts, etc... So please do your research before doing a story that says the crime is blown out of proportion.
