I'm the one that brought the subject to the AP's attention. I was passed through 16 federal agencies and more than a dozen contractors. It was only when one contractor posted their FTP log and it revealed downloads from "suspect origins" that I decided to go public.

I am disappointed that the article dod not receive more coverage as the sites listed in the article are only a small sample of the sites I cataloged.

Folks, there is a hemorrhage of sensitive data going on. There are also many sites displaying personally identifiable information.

I ask every IT manager to look at their FTP and evaluate its contents immediately.
