This doesn't make much sense to me. Why not simply monitor their behavior? Or, block them from viewing users below a certain age, etc.
MySpace does nothing to validate the user info you enter. I can actually enter the same exact info using two different email addresses and I can have two accounts. Now these 29,000 users who are registered sex offenders will have to create an account using false info and nobody will be able to keep an eye on them if they wanted.
To me, this is nothing more than a publicity stunt.
