Of course, we have seen few true "threats" to the Internet ever really manifest as such... usually it is a much more limited scale, or a wide-spread annoyance such as some of the popular viruses out there. I think that the much more likely scenario is a semi-targeted attack at infrastructure or very specific Internet targets. I doubt the sophistication exists for these folks to launch a technical attack that could truly go after such a large scale.
