TJX has estimated that its total losses as a result of this breach were US $156 million. As it claims that only about 15 million accounts were genuinely at risk, the cost to TJX per account works out at about US $10. If you were a retailer, wouldn?t you take steps to look after all the $10 bills that your customers give you? Maybe that?s how personal data should be approached.
