Group releases credit-card software standard 2008-04-19

It occurs to me that our Security Professionals tend to address Security issues from the user standpoint -- rather than from the standpoint of the hacker. Thinking that it is the log on and authentication process that needs to be strengthened security professionals have provided us with the two factor identification technique.

but how do hackers steal data?

generally it is by the use of un-authorized programming. accordingly, our security professionals need to address the question of stopping the distribution of un-authorized programming.

A new book, entitled "The Future of the Internet and how to stop it" (Jonathan Zittrain )was discussed on NPR this morning and is available on Amazon

The author argues that the Internet is a "generative system" and as such contributes to the development of valuable technology for society

there is no doubt he is correct but there is no reason he needs un-restricted access to the net to research and generate any technology he may prefer. he just needs to get our permission before he tests his programs.
