Who needs a botnet? The National Security Agency already has access to a good 60% of the most advanced super computers in the world. Or do they? Where are all these machines cracking cryptographic communications 24/7? Wait... I know they are to busy working on the crypto kids page! The idea of the U.S. Government developing a "botnet" sounds desperate and only makes the rest of the world laugh at the incompetence of our electronic infrastructure. I've said this once before several months ago in response to another article. The issue here is the people they put in positions of power, the people with the latitude to influence Congress, the White House, DoD and our intelligence agencies (we have so many now, it's hard to keep up with them all - maybe they will create another agency just for Cyber War!) at any rate, if the U.S. Government wants to develop a way to defend ourselves from these attacks its not by attacking back with "z0mb13 n0d3z". Where are all these "bright" people our current administration keeps talking about? I figured out a long time ago that they don't exist. The DoD has already proven they are incompetent. See wikileaks ;) They can't even keep their own classified information "secret" now some Col has a bright idea to start a botnet... I can see it already... CNN "Chinese Hackers take over U.S. Government Botnet and attack U.S. banking systems"

I will not feel any safer tonight when I shut my eyes and get ready to sleep, knowing some Col with a college degree, a clearance, a laptop and access to SIPRNet who reviewed a few reports on botnets and internet relay chat (rolz) had decided to save the world with a botnet.

I'll be getting hammered tonight at the bar chasing woman and drinking dark beer.

Cheers SF and friends! Good to see most of us are on the same page!
